Chemical Structure and Synthesis Methods

 
  • Chemical Structure: The molecular main chain of polyimide fiber contains imide rings (-CO - NH - CO -), which is the key structure endowing it with special properties. The imide ring structure makes the molecular chains have relatively high rigidity and stability, enabling them to resist the influence of external factors such as high temperature and chemical corrosion.
  • Synthesis Methods: It is mainly synthesized through a polycondensation reaction. Firstly, monomers such as diamines and dianhydrides react in an appropriate solvent to generate a polyamic acid (PAA) precursor. The reaction equation is usually: nH2N - R - NH2+ n(OC)2 - R' - (CO)2 → [HN - R - NH - CO - R' - CO]2 + 2nH2O (where R and R' represent different organic groups). Then, the polyamic acid undergoes a thermal imidization or chemical imidization process, losing water molecules to form polyimide fiber. This synthesis process can precisely control the molecular structure and properties of the fiber.

  • Outstanding High-Temperature Resistance: It can maintain stable performance in a high-temperature environment for a long time. Its long-term service temperature can reach 300 - 500 °C, and it can even withstand higher temperatures in a short period.   • Good Electrical Insulation Properties: Polyimide fiber is a good electrical insulation material with high volume resistivity and a moderate dielectric constant.
